Today we went over all 3 types of questions in the present simple. These will all be in the quiz after the vacation:

1) Yes/No questions : do/does + I/you/he/she/it/we/they + v1...?

2) WH questions: When/Where/Who/What/How/Why + do/does + I/you/he/she/it/we/they + v1...?

3) WH-SUBJECT questions: these are questions to which the answer is the subject (נושא) of the sentence:

What/Who + V+s/es/ies....?

WH-subjects questions are based on the 3rd-person-singular - because when we ask the question we still don't know the answer. So the verb will always be in the third-person-singular state. Example:

• Who wins a trophy (גביע) for the highest achievement (הישג) in class ?

• Who receives a medal in class ?

• What is in page 47 of the text book?

Answer: The rules for present simple questions are in page 47 of the text book.

We don't use an auxiliary verb (פועל עזר) in WH-subject questions. So, "does" may appear only in its original meaning (לעשות). Example:

Who always does homework? Who usually doesn't do homework? Who often writes in the notebook? Who never writes in the notebook?

Please look at the presentation we showed in class today. The things you can learn from it are:

1) How to write a story describing someone's week.

2) How to correctly use verbs in presents simple: when to add "s" and when not to add it.

3) Remind yourself that "be" and "have" are also verbs, and in the 3rd-person-singular be=is and have=has.

4) Compose 3 types of questions: yes/no questions, wh-questions and wh-subject questions. There are examples in the presentation and also the correct sentence structure for each.

היום בשיעור עברנו על שלושה סוגי השאלות בהווה פשוט: שלושת הסוגים יהיו בבוחן לאחר החופשה.

שאלות כן\לא מתחילות תמיד ב-Do / Does. משתמשים ב- DOES כאשר מדברים על גוף שלישי יחיד.

מבנה השאלה הוא קבוע:

do/does

+ מי או מה שעליו מדברים

+ הפועל בצורתו הבסיסית. ראו את מבנה המשפט כתוב באנגלית למעלה בבקשה.

מבנה שאלות WH (שאינן שאלות נושא) דומה מאוד רק מתחיל עם מילה השאלה המתחילה ב-WH. כלומר:

מילת שאלה WH

+ do/does

+ מי או מה שעליו מדברים

+ הפועל בצורתו הבסיסית. ראו את מבנה המשפט כתוב באנגלית למעלה בבקשה.

מבנה שאלות WH-נושא שונה מהשניים הקודמים. השאלות מתחילות בדרך כלל ב"מי" או "מה" כי הן מתייחסות לנושא של משפט התשובה.

בגלל שמי ששואל את השאלה לא יודע עדיין את התשובה - השאלה נבנית כאילו על גוף שלישי יחיד ולכן הפועל בשאלה תמיד יהיה כתוב עם s/es/ies

הפועל do/does לא משתתף כפועל עזר בשאלות נושא. הוא יכול להופיע במשמעותו הרגילה (עושה):

Who always does homework?

Who usually doesn't do homework?

Who often writes in the notebook?

Who never writes in the notebook?
